Barton Peveril Sixth Form College has today launched its Digital Equity Strategy and announced a 3-year partnership with ASUS and Academia Ltd. This initiative aims to ensure that every student at the college, regardless of household income, has access to the technology and skills needed to succeed in their studies and future careers.
“We believe that every student deserves an equal opportunity to thrive in the digital age,” said Chris Loveday, Vice Principal at Barton Peveril Sixth Form College. “This partnership with ASUS and Academia is a testament to our mutual commitment to providing cutting-edge technology and resources to all our students, regardless of their socioeconomic background.”
The Digital Equity Strategy will focus on several key areas:
- Providing devices and internet access to all students, ensuring that no one is left behind due to lack of resources.
- Delivering comprehensive digital literacy training to equip students with the skills needed to navigate the digital world effectively and safely.
- Offering personalised support to students who may be experiencing digital poverty, including one-to-one mentoring and access to a Digital Inclusion Fund.
ASUS and Academia Ltd, both leaders in the technology industry, have pledged their support to this initiative, recognising the importance of digital equity in education.
Nick Mitchinson, Commercial Marketing Lead for ASUS stated, “We are proud to partner with Barton Peveril in this important endeavor. By providing access to technology and digital skills, we are investing in these students, empowering them to prepare for a digital future and helping to create a more equitable society all while aiding educators to improve the teaching experience and increase productivity with user-friendly, easily maintained technology.” Luke Holdcroft-Young, Sales Director at Academia added, “Access to technology is crucial for supporting learning outcomes, empowering students to engage, collaborate and think critically. Yet, the digital divide limits opportunities for many. Bridging this gap is vital for equity and inclusion, ensuring all learners can thrive. Academia is proud to partner with Barton Peveril to champion universal access, making technology a right, not a privilege”.
Barton Peveril Sixth Form College is confident that this partnership will have a lasting positive impact on its students and the wider community.
